I was walking the streets of NY and just happened upon it, so I had to go in. Now I've heard of Famous Original Ray's for many years. The only atmosphere this place has is the air you're breathing. It's a total dive, so the food better be good. I can say I've eaten a slice of history. It was very good. That said, I've had equally good NY pie in Phoenix, AZ.

This place was near our hotel and we decided to give it a try. We all got pepperoni pizza and it was pretty good! It's clean and spacious inside. This is a cool spot because they have a lot of indoor seating, and a few outside. We also appreciated the AC, especially during the summer heat. Would eat here again!

We were told when in NYC, Ray's is a must!! Staff were helpful. Shop is nothing fancy but exactly what you'd expect from a New York pizza joint. Great local vibe. Lots of selection and huge slices.

Yes, it lacks in style, yes, it is an old business since 1964, but if you want New York pizza, this is the place to go! Crispy crust worth eating every bite! Large portions of pizza by the slice. Quick service. Yes, they lack is pleasant service, but hey, it's New York! Pizza this good should have some attitude! They survived through the pandemic, not just survived, but thrived! Ambiance is nostalgic!

I smelled the pizza from the street and drifted in. The restaurant is long and narrow. The staff is friendly and loud. The vibe is authentic New York. This spot isn't fancy but the pizza is good. I had the pepperoni sausage and mushroom. Huge slices. Thin crust...crispy. Greasy. Flavors that take u back. No pretentious recipes. Simple pizza done right. I would have had more but they mopped the floor and the chemical smell was overwhelming. Suggest using odorless cleaning supplies. This is the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars.
